Simplify Your SEO Business
<img src="http://www.SEOrankings.com/wp-content/uploads/money-quality-time-dice.jpg” alt=”save money, quality, time dice” title=”red money, quality, time dice” width=”200″ height=”150″ class=”alignleft size-full wp-image-12642″ />Well the results are in and it’s clear I’m not the only who’s struggled with time-management issues while running an SEO business online. Luckily, there are a ton of resources and tools to make our lives easier. I’m gonna share a few of the things that REALLY helped free up time and take my business to the next level.
Don’t worry, I’ll keep the recommend resource list light because the last thing I want to do is have you thinking you have to run out learn a bunch of new tools.
Here are some great ways to lighten you load:
Automate
Many important search engine optimization tasks can be done for us automatically using some handy tools. You can schedule them to run, report and email automatically, or run them manually when you need to.
Common SEO tasks that can be automated:
- Website Auditing
- Rank Tracking
- <a href="http://f019f51vaby49z23ust2v-t99u.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=SEORANK”>traffic Reporting
- Link Partnerships
- Competitor Tracking
SEO related items that can be automated to:
- Lead Generation & Nurturing
- Email Marketing
- Social Media Monitoring
Although I’ve never used them, I wanted to provide you with ONE tool that can automate the highest number of these tasks for you, and came up with HubSpot. They can run a bit on the expensive side, but do offer an all-in-one solution that could end up saving you substantially more time and money in the long-run. However, <a href="http://www.SEOrankings.com/SEOmoz-pro-review”>SEOmoz is a much more affordable alternative and possibly better overall solution for most SEOs. Otherwise you can check out some of the other <a href="http://www.SEOrankings.com/resources”>SEO tools and resources I’m familiar with and recommend.
Outsource
Even though the popularity of outsourcing is growing, I think many small business owners still struggle with the thought of doing it. Especially when it comes to SEO. I used to think there is no way I could outsource search engine optimization. because I definitely didn’t have time to be training anyone, and I didn’t feel comfortable they were going to keep mine and my clients’ websites out of trouble.
Although I think these are very legitimate concerns, here are some tasks that can be easily outsourced by transcribing your processes up front and passing them along as simple guidelines to follow.
- Competitive Research
- Link Building
- Website Optimization
- Keyword Research
- Content Creation / Blogging
SEO related tasks that can be easily outsourced too:
- Brand Management
- Tech Support
- Lead Generation and Nurturing
- Graphic Design
- Website Development
- Video Creation
- Social Media Marketing
Actually just about anything can be outsourced in today’s Internet age. When I finally learned to outsource projects it was the single best thing I could ever do for my business. The quality of my services actually improved because I wasn’t trying to “do-it-all” myself. Websites like oDesk have made it super easy for me. I recommend starting with the items that are easiest to outsource first, then moving on to the ones you like the least. This will help you run a successful business that allows you to work on the things you love most.

The first person asked for help identifying some more free web directories for obtaining baclinks. Have Any Questions About Search Engine Optimization?
<img src="http://www.SEOrankings.com/wp-content/uploads/blue-question-mark.jpg” alt=”blue question mark” title=”blue question mark” width=”180″ height=”178″ class=”alignleft size-full wp-image-9113″ />In case you don’t already know; I started this site almost two years ago as a test blogging platform for myself and a place to share some of what I’ve learned along the way. I never had a real business plan or wrote down any particular long-term goals for it. I’ve just been adding content and tools as I think about them and have time.
But, ever since I released the <a href="http://www.SEOrankings.com/free-SEO-ebook”>free downloadable SEO book a few months ago, the subscriber count here has gone through the roof, that is, for a blog that only publishes a few posts each month and isn’t involved in hardly any other promotional methods. So, with so many new people now subscribing every day, I feel like I owe it to you to try and cover more of the topics that you’re most interested in and less of the random stuff that’s on my mind.
With that said, what type of information would be the most helpful for you? Is there anything in particular you would like me to write about? More SEO news, tutorials, videos, product reviews, or any tools you’d like to see here? Any particular technique you would like me to cover? Please be as specific or as general as you like. Just let me know of anything that would help you.

Please don’t be shy…. I’m really looking forward to hearing how I can improve this website and blog to better help you!
(P.S. I’m working on a new service for this website and expect to launch the beta version within the next few months. So stay tuned because all of our Aweber email subscribers will be the first to learn about it and receive a major discount for helping us test it out. To be one of the first to get notified all you need to do is <a href="http://www.SEOrankings.com/free-SEO-ebook”>download my free SEO ebook PDF. If you’ve already done that then you don’t need to do anything else because you’re already on the list!)

SEO Goals for 2011
While a lot of folks are talking about which SEO trends to look for in 2011, I thought it would be helpful to share my top SEO goals for 2011 instead.
I think most of us already know we should continue to focus on mobile, social media marketing and local search engine optimization in 2011.
Beyond those top 3 SEO trends, here’s my personal list of SEO goals for this website and blog this year.
1. Get Off My Butt and Do Some Offline Networking
At first you might be thinking “what does this have to do with SEO”? And sure, it doesn’t seem directly related. However, if you’re serious about building a long-term, sustainable online business; you’ll likely need to step up your offline efforts at some point. Take a look at any industry, they all have conferences where you’ll find representatives from all of the top brands. Search engine marketing isn’t any different. Become a speaker or a sponsor, and you’re sure to earn an authoritative link in your niche. Talk to some like minded individuals, cultivate those relationships, and you’ll probably earn a few editorial links too. You can check out SMX and SES for search marketing conferences, or get your feet wet with a local Meetup or Biznik event.
2. Differentiate Myself from the Pack
Again, this might not seem directly related. However, there are literally thousands of SEO blogs, most of which talk about the same stuff, often times just repeated. That’s great, a lot of that information is important to know and thus it should be written about on each resource. But, I also want to be different. I want to earn your subscription and links. Offer you something the other guys don’t. So, one of my goals is figuring out what SEO information is lacking and filling in those gaps. If you’re struggling to stand out in your niche, you might want to take a step back and ask yourself how you can be different too.
3. Take Social Media Seriously
I’m just as terrible networking online as I am in person. I get into these wicked zones and all I focus on is creating content, and reading and testing out new tools. I forget to interact with others. It’s not healthy for me or my business. I can’t tell you which social media tool is best for your business, but I can say the little bit of real social networking I have done has earned me a few editorial links and number of great contacts within in my niche. I don’t recommend approaching social media as way to promote your products, but more about cultivating relationships. When done right, those relationships should turn into more sales in the long-run than any short-term pitch. And, with Google and Bing admitting they use social signals to help rank websites, i’ve been given another great reason to start taking social media more seriously.
The common theme here is that I want to “earn” more links this year. Without networking, it’s really tough to get even the best content linked too. Some people get lucky, while others go broke creating great content that never get’s found or linked to. Most of the time it’s hard to have one without the other, and eventually manual link submissions will run their course. Figuring out how to entice others to continuously link to you is the best way to increase and maintain your rankings long-term.
Well, I could go on forever with my extensive list of SEO goals, but I want to know what your goals are? Please take a moment to share your top three with the rest of us in the comments below. I’d love to hear from you. And, I know the rest of the folks reading this would too. To your success in 2011 and beyond!!
